I need advice on wedding invitations….?

July 30, 2008

I am pretty artsy w/ a splash of hippy. :) I want my invitations to be simple, elegant, and edgy/contemporary. My colors are dark, earthy (almost olive) green w/ dark gold. Any suggestions? OH, and I'm working w/ a really tight budget. Any known websites would help tremendously! THANKS!

You could make your own. Have you ever heard of Stampin' Up? I have had a couple of brides that used materials from them to make their own invites. They turned out beautiful.

  4. Why don't you make your own? Go to any craft store and get blank note cards (they usually come in white, beige and black…or try samflax.com for more of a color selection including your olive color). Then, have someone take a cool, representative (of you and your boyfriend) photograph of you and your boyfriend and using photo corners (also from the craft store) and acid-free glue, affix it to the front. Upload your photo to http://www.snapfish.com (free to open an account and they won't inundate your mailbox with spam) and get reprints for as little as $0.09/each. Hand write your invitations using gold ink, or before adding the photo, run them through a laser or ink jet printer. It's artsy, original and it gives your friends and family a photo of you two to keep.

  5. The 2 best that I found were Ann's Wedding and Invitations by Dawn. They both were the cheapest I found and had several earthy, leaves type of invites but a lot of elegant ones too.

I think the prices were reasonable and they had some original ones. :)

  7. I printed out a 4×6 picture I found on the internet, then glued on to a piece of 5×7 cardstock, then printed an invitation on vellum paper, punched two holes at top of invite and held it all together with a ribbon. I bought the supplies at a craft store spent about 25 dollars.

This is where I am getting mine from. The Jean M Exclusive ones are a little bit more pricey than the Dreaming Up Designs. I think they are adorable and modern. Good Luck!

  9. Go to Dividal Bridals store on line, they have a great selection and are really inexpensive. They are fast too. I got mine in less than 10 days after I put my order in.

  11. My friend is a Physician and she and her husband have allowed my Fiance and I to have our wedding at their home. Exactly how should the invitation be worded? Just their address or ……at the home of Mr. and Dr. Bill Smith?
