should i buy a special pen to address my wedding invitations?
October 27, 2009
my mother is about to do them and thinks any old pen is fine but i don’t know.
I think that it isn’t nessary to buy a new pen. But a really good pen to use would be a fountain pen, so if you don’t have one of those, then I would go out and buy one

I think that as long as its clean and writes nicely its fine. But if you are going for a professional look you should look for a nice inky pen that will be sleak and professional.

its just up to you…you could purchase one of those really fancy pens to write them with or better yet print out the addresses on your computer and use them…

Just make sure you have a good one that does not make blobs. It is somewhat a tradition to buy a nice one, then it becomes your signature pen as long as you wish it to be, or becomes a keepsake. And you use it for the thank you cards, too.
If you are a sentimental person, go get yourself a Cross pen. If not, BIC might do you just fine.
Congrats!

Sure, you should do them yourself and keep the pen for memorabilia and if you get divorced you can sign the papers with it.

Dear Miss Susan G. Oh, I feel your pain. After stressing over the color of the BMs’ underwear, now we have to figure out whether or not to use your old pen. But, do you not have any other pens in the house? You just have one? I would take a scratch piece of paper, and try writing with the old pen, and see how it looks. Maybe you will both either agree or disagree, and your problem will be solved. But, if one says "yes, it looks fine" and the other says "no, it looks awful" then you have to agree to disagree, and in that case I think buying a new pen would be in order. But, I would stress that the person who said "no" should be the one who pays for the new pen. That would be my little tip for this problem today.

Definitely need a special pen. You really should pay someone to do these for you so they are done right. What do you want people to think?

I would…perhaps a fine tip sharpie….or a metallic pen…why not fancy them up? I’m sure they were pricey..

Don’t use metallic markers – the xylene bleeds through paper like nobody’s business and the metal can scratch off.
If you’re using your usual handwriting, you may want to use a higher-end version of your favourite brand and type of pen. Your choice of calligraphy will dictate the best pen to use, however. Use a square nib for Italic, Gothic, Uncial or Roman; a pointed fountain pen nib for cursive styles like copperplate, Spenserian or Palmer methods. Aim for consistent neatness and proportion, but not perfection.
