How do I address these wedding invitations?
October 27, 2009
I am addressing our wedding invitations. We have several friends & family members who are doctors & I’m not sure if I should address the invitation to Dr. & Mrs. OR Mr. & Mrs.
I consider them pretty good friends of the family. Is the Dr. Necessary? I want to make sure I am respectful.
If Dr. is their title I would go ahead and still address them as that. They may be insulted if you were to just put Mr. and Mrs.
What is the correct etiquette when it comes to wedding invitations?
October 27, 2009
My Father is the one paying. He has long since divorced my mother and she isn’t paying at all. Just him. What is the correct way to have him on the invitation? Mr. so and so requests your presence ? Or do I put both him and my mother?
To avoid anything nasty, and not give your mom any undue credit, try this wording or a variation of it:
"The pleasure of your company is requested at the wedding ceremony of…."
Why mention anyone at all? I didn’t for my wedding, and no one thought it was weird. If you just mentioned your father, wouldn’t your spouse-to-be’s parents feel left out?
It’s YOUR wedding, so you and your fiance are the only names that need to be on the invite. You don’t need to make mention of anyone else, unless it’s the person the RSVPs should be sent to.
What are some classy alternatives to calligraphy for wedding invitations?
October 25, 2009
I am getting married next May and the budget is tight. I know traditionally people have calligraphy for the addresses on their wedding invitations, but I am trying to save money and wondered if anyone had seen any nice looking wedding invites without calligraphy?
Check out www.williamarthur.com specifically the Rita Renning album, incidentally they are having a sale right now where if you are inviting 100 or more, you get 25 invites free.
Hope that helps. ^_^

L2 spouse visa without marriage photos or wedding invitation cards possible?
October 25, 2009
Hi all, I am in the states on an L1 and recently married my long term girl friend when she visited me last time here in the US. We did not make a big deal out of it and just took the free court ceremony and also didn’t do any wedding celebration because there was not enough time and money to do it. Now that I’ve read all the L2 visa requirements I’ve found that US immigration wants to see a full wedding picture album as well as invitation cards but I just don’t have that.
Does anyone has experiences if that would cause implications if she applies for a L2 visa or if there are any other ways to convince US immigration that our marriage is true and lawful?
Thanks a bunch.

Best pen to use to address wedding invitations?
October 25, 2009
I am looking for opinions of what pen is best to use to address wedding invitations.
I would like to use a waterproof, non bleeding, gel ink pen.
Thanks for your help
I found that ball-point gel pins work the best….
My invitations had texture to them (when you ran your finger over the paper you could feel it), so regular Bic pins didnt work well because you could tell where the paper was raised…
Sharpies, even the really thin ones used for writing, can spread through the paper fibers (like how they do on damp napkins)
Just give them enough time to dry before stacking them on top of one another…
If you are sending your invitations during colder months, you really shouldnt have a problem. Usually the most problems are during the warm humid months (I sent my invitations in North Carolina in August – hot and humid)
Good luck!

What is the etiquette for Response cards with Wedding Invitations? Is asking people to Email a reply okay?
October 25, 2009
My fiance’ and I are looking at response cards to go with Wedding invitations, Is is considered tacky to ask for an email reply, or a telephone reply?
I would much rather reply by email or phone. Proper etiquette? I do not know. In today’s busy world, I cannot see how these kinds of replies would be looked upon as tacky. The etiquette was written before email and probably answering machines.
The people you are inviting to your wedding should be family and friends anyway. I pre-stamped my response envelopes however I received phone calls and emails also. They took this upon themselves as I did not offer any choices. I even had a few folks stop by or tell me when I saw them out about town.
This is YOUR wedding, if you want people to reply by Email or phone, ask them to do just that. If someone is so snobbish as to call it tacky, would you want them at the wedding anyway??
Congratulations and Best Wishes.
